...the Elagen Effort!

Wednesday 28th August saw the return of the Ellerdine Effort, a fast and flat 5k in the village of Ellerdine near Telford.

The evening was cool after a couple of showers but the sun came back out and it was near perfect conditions for a race.

I crossed the line, smashing my 5k PB by some 11 seconds. I’d gone into this race with a best of 22:32 and come out of it better off for a 22:21 of which I was rightly proud as a 47-year-old who has only been running for two and a half years
and first recorded a 5k of 32:15 in 2017. Added to my 5k and 1k records during the race were also PBs for 1 mile and 2k. Never mind the Ellerdine Effort, I think it should be renamed the Elagen Effort!

4th August saw the last of the 2019 Sexarathon series, a string of local races in the area of Telford over the summer period.

This race went well and has been using Elagen Sport again for weeks I swear that my performances are getting better as my recovery is.

The course mainly takes in country roads and then through woods, where the soil path is uneven with ruts and tree roots. The next stage is a grassy lane where the choice is to run on the central uneven grass. The finish line had the potential for a 50m final sprint which I took advantage of to come home in what was a decent 22:51, only 30 seconds over my 5k PB which I set a week earlier on the road so a time not to be sniffed at for multi-terrain.
