Claire and Allie,Hope you are both well! Having finished my 2023 race season I thought I would let you know what your ongoing support has helped me to achieve this year.
My biggest success of the year was to win the European Middle Distance Quadrathlon Championships, which this year took place in the UK. I was delighted not to only win my age group title but finish first female overall.ATHLETICS – Helen Russell crowned European Middle Distance Quadrathlon champion
My other focus this year has been on Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP). I was pleased to win the GBSUP National Distance Race Series in the Nisco fleet category, defending the same title I won last year. In addition this year I was crowned GBSUP National Title Holder for the first time, again in the Nisco fleet category. The race series rewards consistency through the season, with competitors’ top two results from three series races counting. With two first and one second place in the Series races I took the overall Series title. The British Champs race took place in September and was over a 8km distance race, a 3km technical race and a 150m sprint. Winning each of the disciplines I took the national title: PADDLEBOARDING – Double success for Russell on national stage

I have also continued to give back to my sports and local community. This year I have been proud to be a British Canoeing ‘She Paddles’ Ambassador. As part of this I have organised a number of initiatives to get women paddling including taster sessions in Stand up Paddleboarding (SUP),kayaking and Canadian canoeing. I also helped to organise a Big Paddle Clean Up event in Evesham.
I realise that the last few years have been difficult for businesses and therefore want to thank you for your ongoing support which has helped me to reach my sporting goals.
