About

Our story

It been over 28 years since our family first formed the company and over the years the names “Eladon” (the company) and “Elagen” (its prime product), have become synonymous with quality.

Today, with so many different herbal supplements and herbal extracts on the shelves of our health stores and supermarkets, choosing the right one has never been so confusing. Back in the early 1990s, my father began researching health supplements after being given an incredibly powerful herbal drink containing an adaptogen called Eleutherococcus senticosus (Eleuthero) when he was a guest of the Russian Embassy in Lusaka.

Impressed by its notable and significant effects, Richard tried to hunt it down on his return to the UK. The search proved not to be as straightforward as he had anticipated. He discovered that while many of the available products contained either ground up whole roots or crude root extracts of the Eleutherococcus plant in various powders and tinctures, few, if any, were defined by the level of the active ingredients responsible for its efficacy. Most products he found contained various unregulated and indeterminate quantities of the active ingredients of the herb.

What was lacking was the process of standardisation whereby roots extracts are analysed and manufactured to specifications with known levels of active constituents. While the herb was widely available, quality extracts with the right botanical and scientific background were thin on the ground worldwide.

Meetings with world experts in medicinal plants, including Dr Stephen Fulderled to the birth of Elagen, a pure standardised form of Eleutherococcus (Eleuthero) produced at a strength suggested as best by research. Much of the research has been conducted in Russia and members of the Eladon team went to discover more about its use and research as guests of the Russian Cosmonaut Training Centre and the late [1] Dr Vladimir Kupin, then head of research at the Moscow Cancer Research Institute.

The Russian cosmonauts were using Eleutherococcus (Eleuthero) in their training programmes and taking it whilst up in Space!

Information on other products, which we have developed in our small but select range, is also available.

Many Thanks,

Allie
